Prizewinners
The Borders League AGM was held in Selkirk's County Hotel. It was well-attended, with 20 people at the meeting, and it was especially welcome to see so many new members there The evening also included the presentation of prizes and trophies for last season:
- Borders Individual Championship: Martin Wallace, of Galashiels
- Borders Individual (Minor section): John Moore, of Selkirk
- League Championship: Kelso chess team
- Nick Duffell shield: this is for the most improved player, and it went to Sam Cornwell of Selkirk
Discussion at the AGM
In general, the League is healthy financially, and for the second year in a row no subscriptions will be asked from individual clubs. The main points were:
- There will be no change in League officials
- The League will be run as before, with the five teams (i) Kelso (ii) Gala (iii) NHS (iv) Selkirk A (v) Selkirk B.
- The Borders Individual Championship will be as last season, with two sections: Championship and Minor
- A quickplay tournament may be held, building on the success of the Allegro tournament held in Hawick in August 2025.
- The new DGT boards will be used as far as possible in the League and in other events.
- The website is running fine, and has been successful in bringing the League to the attention of new members
