New members are welcome, though we regret that we cannot accept members under the age of 18. The County Hotel
Located right in the centre of Selkirk, the County Hotel offers self check-in, ultra fast Wifi, free parking, and many other facilities. Each room has an en suite bathroom (with walk-in shower) tea / coffee facilities, Freeview TV and fine Egyptian cotton bed linen. Also provided are mineral water, designer toiletries and free Wifi.
Non-residents can benefit from a very comfortable lounge bar, and a restaurant offering first class food. In addition to the standard menu, a special Indo-Chinese menu adds spice to the choice of dishes.
The photos below are of the playing area that we use. It is spacious and perfect for a chess club.

Visiting clubs
Would all visiting clubs please note that you may not bring in your own drink (alcoholic or otherwise) to the County. We have an excellent relationship with the management and we get the upstairs room free... but only on the understanding that we are there as buying customers and that we do not abuse our welcome. Please do not bring any cans of Coke or anything else into the hotel.
History and members
On the Selkirk History page, we have an overview of the club's 60-year history, and a downloadable record of these years.
