18 Mar 2025: Selkirk a v Kelso

Kelso win 2½-1½

Kelso travelled to the Town Arms last night, and came away with a 2½-1½ victory.   The match was hard fought on all boards and two of them just about went the distance.   On board 1, Keith Aitchison surprised Dave Bogle with a Sicilian Wing Gambit, and despite fierce defence on Dave's part, Keith was able to exploit queenside weaknesses arising from the opening.  The only victory for Selkirk came on board 4, where Tam Wylie overcame Kelso's George Birbeck.  Full details (and the Aitchison-Bogle game) on the Matches page...

Selkirk under-1200 championship

One game was played last night in the Town Arms, when Sam Cornwell (White) overcame Chris Nathan with a kingside attack.  Updated crosstables are on the Club News page...
