28 Jan 2025: Gala win against Selkirk B:  League schedule change

Gala travelled to Selkirk on Tuesday 28th and came away winners by 2½ to 1½.  On board 1, John Moore recovered from a shaky opening to almost (but not quite) secure a draw against Martin Wallace.  Another hard struggle on board 2 , where Selkirk's Steve Leckie eventually slipped up to give Gerry Johnstone the full point.  Mark Gardiner v Rob Crosbie was a very even draw - and on board 4 Selkirk's Sam Cornwell scored Selkirk's only full point with a win against Gala newcomer Russell Young.

A Borders League match has been rearranged: Kelso v Galashiels, originally scheduled for 1st April, will now be played on the 15th April. Venue is is the Waverley Bowling Club, Galashiels.

The next match in the League is on Wednesday 5th February, when Kelso are at home to the NHS team. This will be held in the BGH.

The first game in the new Selkirk U-1200 Tournament was played on the 28th where Kevin Poulton (W) beat Tam Wylie (B) in a tight affair, where losing one knight was enough to allow the breakthrough for white. I think I have made everyone aware of this, but in case I have missed someone, this is a supplementary tournament for those....read more
