16 Sep 2025: Selkirk in County Hotel: Mark wins Championship
Selkirk's first evening in the County Hotel went perfectly. The new premises are spacious, warm and ideal for chess, and the club had a large turnout, which bodes well for the new season. We even had a member of the hotel staff dropping in for a game!In the 2025-26 championship, Alan Armstrong defeated Harry Cornwell; but the main match of the evening was Mark Gardiner v John Moore. Mark emerged the winner in the playoff for the 2024-25 championship, and here he is with the trophy.
The updated table for this season's championship is on the club news page.
in other news the Selkirk AGM will be held on Tuesday 23 Sept. Please make a point of coming along.
