Close call at Gala

Selkirk B travelled to the Focus Centre on Tuesday 14th to meet a strong Gala team. Gala won by 2½-1½, but that was still a good result for Selkirk B.  Bill Miller overcame a 251 grading difference to hold the draw against Stuart Wilson, and on board 1 Martin Keen was very close to drawing or even defeating Martin Wallace, but only just got outplayed in a 69-move game.

In other news this week, Selkirk's Dave Bogle lost his 4th round BICC match against Gordon Christie.

The upstairs room of the Town Arms

As you can see, we occupy a fairly spacious room above the main bar of the Town Arms. It is a friendly club, and we always welcome new chessplayers.
